Production Design

Production design can mean many things to a builder but put simply, it is the final and most rigorous part of the design process. We provide the detailed design and expertise required to execute.

Detail Design Drawings

After initial design of the vessel in the form of structure, layout, and architectural design is is finished, often boat builders necessitate component or fit out design plans that requires a great deal of detail in order to execute the creation of the final design and build.  As a whole or in part, Dory Boatworks provides detailed design for small or large components, assemblies, and parts.

Mold and Tooling Design

Tooling design is a critical component – no pun intended-  of a successful boat build. We are able to produce mold and tooling designs for one-off or long production run male or female molds. We are often called upon by our clients to produce designs for custom, one off parts that require economically efficient yet accurate “quick molds”. It is a valuable tool to many builders to incorporate the use of small new molded features in the form of mold blockers and inserts.

CAD to CAM Services for CNC Projects

A large part of any modern boat build is the computer aided manufacturing segment of the design. Needs vary from builder to builder, but it is common for us to provide 2D and 3D tooling files or 3D model deliverables for CNC cutting or milling.

System Design

System design is a critical part of the long term functionality and therefore long term enjoyment the boat will provide for its owner. We integrate quality and thorough system design into the early stages of each vessel – this means integrated conduit runs into vessel structure, insuring ample room for easy access to vital components, and proper layout and reinforcement  for mechanical and steering assemblies.
